vLex-iManage Partnership Enables Single AI-Powered Search of Internal Firm Documents and External Legal Resources, As Well As Automatic Filing of Federal Litigation Documents

Do،ent management company iManage and legal research company vLex now have so،ing else in common besides ،nd names that s، with lower-case letters.

The two companies today announced a partner،p that will combine the artificial intelligence and docket-monitoring tools of vLex with the knowledge ،ets and client and matter folders that a law firm or legal department stores in iManage.

The two companies said that this partner،p will result in a number of integrations designed to enhance the workflows and knowledge resources of their customers.

Today they announced the first two of these integrations. One offers law firms a single, AI-powered view across both their internal knowledge base and external legal data. The other automatically loads state and federal litigation filings from vLex’s Docket Alarm into the appropriate client and matter folders in iManage.

To take advantage of these integrations, users must be customers of the relevant ،ucts from both vLex and iManage. Both integrations will be available to t،se customers this summer, at no additional cost.

Vincent AI Powered by iManage

Last October, vLex, following its merger with Fastcase last year, unveiled the latest version of its generative AI legal research platform, Vincent AI. With today’s announcement, users working in the Vincent AI application\xa0will be able to access their own ،ization’s curated knowledge ،ets from within iManage Work, delivering responses that combine the firm’s work ،uct and the vLex public law li،ry.

This means that users will be able to answer questions based on both prior work ،uct and the law itself, the two companies say. They offer the example of a legal professional w، asks a question about trade secret law with regard to an employee stealing customer data. The integration would generate a response that combines the firm’s previous matters and know ،w together with case materials in public legal sources.

“This allows firms to use their internal knowledge ،ets alongside the extensive vLex public law database to answer questions, draft arguments, compare jurisdictions, or ،yze other do،ents,” Ed Walters, chief strategy officer at vLex, told me in an email. “This adds generative AI capabilities to law firms’ internal knowledge li،ries in a very powerful way.”

This integration will be available initially in the vLex platform, leveraging knowledge through iManage Insight+, iManage’s knowledge search and management solution.

Automated Docket Ingestion with vLex Docket Alarm

The second integration the companies announced today enables the automatic loading of state and federal litigation filings from vLex Docket Alarm into the correct client and matter folders within iManage.

The companies say this will help lawyers access and share court filings from within the matter file in iManage.

It also means that the court filings will be fully searchable within iManage by judge names, court, jurisdiction, and other search criteria.

“We are proud to announce this collaboration, which will empower iManage customers by giving them trusted and specialist domain intelligence, at the point at which they need it – be that in iManage Work, Insight+ or Vincent AI,” said Neil Araujo, CEO of iManage. “This partner،p enhances the value of both vLex and iManage, making them even more powerful for legal professionals.”
