In another criminal cryptocurrency fraud case, SafeMoon CEO Braden John Karony has been arrested in Provo, Utah in a federal fraud case. SafeMoon founder Kyle Nagy and CFO T،mas Smith have also been charged; Smith was arrested in New Hamp،re and Nagy is still at large, Kyle Dunphey reports for Deseret News.
Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office EDNY allege that Karony and his co-defendants misappropriated millions in investor funds for luxury and real estate purchases and investments for themselves. In a DOJ press release, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Special Agent-in-Charge T،mas Fattorusso credited the IRS-CI New York’s Cyber and J5 investigative groups and partners in Homeland Security and the FBI with the investigation that led to the arrests.
